Back from DC

Misty and I left Sunday morning and headed to DC. It took about 5 hours at a leisurely pace. Virginia is a pretty state to drive through. Lots of autumn colors in the trees and rivers flowing under the highway. We got to our hotel and I passed out on the bed while she got ready for the show. Then we headed to DC around 5pm. If you have ever driven in Washington, DC, then you should be able to feel the following pain. Every road is full of conditional signs. Sometimes the road is one way, others it is two. Some you can't turn down during certain times, but you can others. The lanes aren't very clearly marked, and the stoplights are on the sides of the road, instead of above it. The drivers don't really care who is where and are constantly switching lanes, stopping in the middle of the road, or whatever else they feel like. The cool part is, you can do pretty much whatever you want and the cops didn't seem to care. They were everywhere, but being that close to the white house, they probably have better stuff to worry about. There also must have been something heavy going on, because there were several roads that were completely blocked off by police. After I dropped her off I drove around for a while, and then parked and walked around. I couldn't find anything too cool to do, but just sight seeing was fine with me. It started to get dark so I went back to the hotel. I picked Misty up around midnight, and we went on an adventure to find food. Nothing was open, so we looked up a Buffalo Wild Wings on her phone and got directions. After a disastrous 30 minute drive through DC and into Maryland, we got there only to find out that they were closed. So we headed back to the hotel and ended up at Bob and Edith's 24 hour diner. We were in bed around 3am and got up at 8am to head home. We got back to Greenville in time for me to go to ERP and Distributor Research.

Great day today

Last night Misty and I had dinner with Sallie and Dave and then hung out at their house for a while. This morning we had lunch at Cracker Barrel and then went to the mall. After the mall we somehow weaseled our way into a great parking spot for the ECU vs Rice game. We dominated Rice by over 30 points. Afterward we got dinner and ate at home. Lastly I took Misty to the Briley's Haunted Corn Maze. It scared the shit out of her I thought I was going to have to wheel her out of there on a stretcher. She made it through though and I think sshe had a good time in the end.

Fun Weekend

Saturday I woke up early and went shooting with Andy. After putting in the extractor upgrade kit I haven't had any more problems with the AR15. I haven't shot enough to call it fix, but so far so good. I also got to shoot my Mosin and that thing kicks like a mule. It hurt my shoulder after about 10 rounds.

After shooting I went to the North End and surfed with Corey, Brenden, Bradley, Shane, and Big Chief. A storm came through and the whole beach cleared out. We knew it would pass quickly so we waited it out in our cars. The weather cleared up and we surfed clean waives by ourselves. After surfing for literally 6 hours, we got dinner and decided to sleep in our cars on the beach. We grabbed some fire wood and got that started. It started getting late and I decided that I was going to dig a hole and sleep outside. Everyone else followed suit and we had a little circle of sleeping holes around the fire. Fast forward a few hours, the sun was coming up and it was 50* outside. We were all freezing, so we quickly cleaned up the fire mess, filled in out holes, and bailed. I went home and napped before I closed at work.

Monday I rested. Tuesday I went surfing and it was a blast. Waist+ with long lines. Saw a bunch of guys I hadn't seen in a while. It was a little chilly, but with my 1 mil top on I was toasty. Then I gave my car a thorough wash and vacuuming.

Around 7pm I got a call from Misty who had just totalled her car. She is ok, but is going to have to get a new car.

too much school work

I've been busting my ass for days so that I wouldn't have to do any work over fall break. I didn't get it all done, but most of it. So far tonight I've written a 2 page single spaced paper about the ethics violations in the Enron scandal, 2 page single spaced paper about the physical and communications infrastructure in 5 countries in South East Asia and 5 countries in Central America, and finished a lab report that was an operating plan of a fictitious company. Wednesday I had 2 midterms and got an 80 on one and a 90 on the other.

Saturday I'm going shooting in the morning and to Jacksonville to photograph a race that night. Sunday I'm going to finish my work. Monday and Tuesday are for surfing.
